ORACLE - Export hangs, Shutdown immediate hangs

While taking export on 10g database with traditional export tool (exp) on windows 2003 Environment hangs before that it was working fine while trying with Data pump export/import (expdp and impdp) utility is also hanging.
While trying to fix this issue surprisingly shutdown immediate also hung, alert log showing oracle was waiting for database writer to be shutdown.
I ended up to shutdown abort database and startup it again though bouncing database this also did not fix the situation. The first export after bouncing database failed with ORA-0600 in alert log and with the following error lines.
EXP-00056: ORACLE error 24324 encountered
ORA-24324: service handle not initialized
EXP-00056: ORACLE error 24324 encountered
ORA-24324: service handle not initialized
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
I tried several times with required checking such as listener.ora, tnsname.ora. All the time finding exp and expdp hung same as before. After searching and going through the metalink note: 351650.1. I found this is due to improper setting of LD_LIBRARY_PATH and LIBPATH. This parameter needs to be set to point to $ORACLE_HOME/lib in 10g as first reference.
After setting this parameter properly fixed this issue “shutdown as well as expdp problem. For more info, please refer to metalink note : 351650.1
Check the alert.log, if you find any error related ‘Thread 1 cannot allocate new log, sequence’ then if this the case then you need to enable your archival process. Your archival is disabling due to any reason. Follow the below post hope it will help you: How to Check Why Shutdown Immediate hangs or taking longer time?
